Every bathroom always has a vent fan. The idea is to use it to help vent out the humid air from hot showers. Most campers come with a very cheap vent that “works”. Where it’s a big 12×12 screen opening with a tiny 5″ fan in the corner with an on/off button. In the end it really does nothing for properly venting air. We decided to upgrade. There’s plenty of upgrade options out there on the market today. We decided to go with the Fantastic Fan brand 12″ vent fan. It simply has a switch to flip to raise and lower the lid. 3 different fan speed options. Temperature control, even though we never use it for that feature. and the nicest feature is the rain sensor. So if the vent is ever left open and running while we are away from the camper the lid will automatically close. With this style fan no extra wiring needed to be done, it was almost direct plug and play. The job can be accomplished with some basic handle tools and a little bit of time. Going to the bigger fan size allows more air to be pulled out of the camper thru the vent. We even use it for keeping the camper cool when we are staying overnight in places without power to run the AC unit. Just simply turn the fan on to its highest speed and open the vent in the front bedroom of the camper. Opening the window furthest from the vent allows a draft across the entire camper and to bring the cooler outside air in. It draws approx. 3 amps of power. We can run it all night on our battery with plenty to spare in the morning.
